Today, I read an article written by Tom Kuegler, and it hit me hard.
No, I am not joking, and I am not overreacting.
He said, “If you are just writing for the views, you are not a real writer”!
I am not a professional writer, but I like to write. I used to write poems and daily, essays from my school time. I enjoyed it. I was writing for myself.
I was not writing for others.
When I started watching analytics and started worrying about earning money from writing, all the fun was gone! I stopped enjoying writing.
The same happened to me when I picked a brush and started painting two years back. I was enjoying a lot and I used to tell people that, painting is like a meditation for me because I used to forget everything else while I was painting.
Then I made the same mistake!
I decided to convert into a business and started focusing on the business part only! I was focusing on getting views on Instagram rather than enjoying the process of painting.
It is very hard to find out what you enjoy the most if you are concerned only about earning money.
Earning money is important. Of course, it is!
But, please don’t give it priority.
From today, I will write for me and YOU. I want my writing to be conversations. Feel free to talk to me. Tell me what you like to read.
