Internet has made it so easy and wonderful for the creators to expand their reach all over the world. It is so wonderful that you can make money selling your digital products.
So many creators are selling their art prints, music, photos, e-books and earning income.
Pros of selling digital products
Unlimited stock
One important thing about digital products is they never run out. You are the one who decide when they will go out of stock and when they will come back. You don’t need to be dependent on a manufacturer.
No shipping management
This is one of the best advantage ever of selling a digital product. When it comes to sell my paintings and art prints, I fear the most about the condition of the package when they reach to customers because we all know how shipping companies handle parcels. When you are selling digital products you don’t need to worry about shipping management.
Low to no cost
There are few costs of selling digital products like research & development, platform fees etc but they are minimal compare to inventory cost, shipping and packaging cost.
You can ship worldwide
When I started selling my paintings and prints, I was able to ship them care free in my country but I had to research a lot when it came to ship them internationally and trust me, I am still not 100% satisfied. I stress a lot until the parcel reach to the customer’s had safely. When it comes to digital products, you can ship them to the every corner of the world stress free which is awesome!
Disadvantages of selling digital products
Competition
As there are so many benefits of selling digital products online, chances are there are so many people selling similar products. So you have to provide value and careful while selecting the niche. You will also be competing with free alternatives people will find on the internet.
Beware of copycats
If your digital product is awesome, chances are there are copycats who will try to steal your product and sell them. So you need to use the right tools to protect your product from piracy and theft. I will write a separate blog about this on future.
