How to build a strong community for your brand

Wherever you go, every one talks about building a community for your brand. If you are a beginner or just launched your business, I am sure you have read that building community for your brand is very important for your business.

First of all, let me tell you that, your followers are not your community. If I have to explain you what is community, I would say, a community is where like minded people hang around. Having loyal customers is what community is.

Today, human connection with your customer is very important to grow your brand. The other important thing to note is that, you don’t make community around your brand, but you make brand around your community.

What is a community for your brand?

The people who are emotionally invested in your brand are your community. They are loyal and very supportive to you. Community is like your friends and family who talks about your brand and suggest other people to use your products.

Brand community is the people who likes all your posts and follow you on every social media platform, who are excited about your products and swear by it. In short, people who have an emotional connection with your brand, are your community.

Why it is important to build a brand community?

Imagine you have a face wash product and there are people who regularly use your product and telling their friends and family about your face wash that how awesome it is! That would be amazing, right?

That’s why having a community is important.

You can read this article to read best brand communities to know why building a brand community is important.

Tips for building a successful brand community

Define your mission or goal

It is very important for your brand to have one or two missions or goals. That’s how people will connect with your brand. For example, if your product is natural face wash and you have posted dogs’ and cats’ photos on your brand’s Instagram feed, nobody will relate with your product.

Having a clear mission is very important before you start building your community.

Look for existing followers/ customers

I had 55 subscribers on my website and I didn’t even know it. I also had no idea how to utilise those subscribers. Later, I read an article and planned to send newsletter twice a month.

If you have existing customers, subscribers, Instagram followers or real world connections, you can start making a small community with them. You do not need to have thousands of people at the very early stage. Start with 10 people and keep adding people who are interested in your brand.

Create high quality content to provide value

Helping community through high quality content is important to grow because people will bring other people and existing community will feel their importance. Nobody likes a brand who only speak about sell, sell and sell.

Your purpose on posting on social media should be helping people by providing value through your knowledge. If you are posting 5 times a week, post 4 value driven post and 1 post about your product.

Give it a time

Nobody gets success in one night. You must have to learn to be patient. It takes time to build a brand community but you will have people who believe in your brand and are loyal to you. You will make a long-lasting relation between your community and your brand.

Building a community of people takes a lot of time and efforts.

These tips are important if you are just about to begin or have a small numbers of followers. If you have a small community already and thinking to grow it, let me know, I will research and write about it in my future article.
