6 Gumroad alternatives

If you are an artist, writer, or any type of creator, you must have heard about Gumroad.

Even though Gumroad is an amazing tool, some artists don’t like to use it because it charges 9%. Some artists like to use multiple platforms because not every one of their customer are aware of Gumroad.

For example, when I was talking to one of my customer, she was totally unaware of Gumroad and was asking me if it is secure. Another problem I faced was, I was only able to sell in USD(now they support multiple currencies).

I have done my research and listed out 10 Gumroad alternatives(free and paid):

  • Pipgig
  • Shopify
  • Podia
  • Sellfy
  • Sendowl
  • Payhip

Pipgig

First is Pipgig, because I am making this tool for creators to sell their digital products and services. I am a creator my self and have used a tons of platforms. I was using Gumroad as well. I started making Pipgig because creators need a very simple and easy to use tool where they can start selling their products in just few minutes.

Pipgig is free and easy to use, it will only take 1% cut from your orders which is amazing!

Shopify

Shopify is the largest and most popular platform. It is easy to use and has hundreds of amazing features. You can create your website for your self and manage your orders as well.

The only drawback for a beginner is that it is not free, they charge subscription fees from $29/month to $299 per month. If you are already getting few orders a month, then Shopify is the best tool. They give 14 days of free trial if you first want to try it out.

Podia

I think Podia is the best Gumroad alternative if you are selling online courses, membership or any digital products. You can create your website for free by using drag and drop. It is super clean. The main focus of Podia is to sell online courses but you can sell any digital products.

You can use Podia for free. They charge monthly fees starting from $39 to $199 if you want to expand more and want to use more features like, no transaction fees, affiliates, priority support, etc.

Sellfy

Sellfy is an another Gumroad alternative to try out. The best thing about them is they give moneyback guarantee within 30 days of purchase and their print on demand service. But there are few drawbacks like, you can only add 10 products, you can only sell physical products, you can’t sell subscriptions, etc.

They charge subscription fees from $22 to $119 per month where you can use features like selling digital products, selling subscription, connect your own domain, remove sellfy branding, etc.

Payhip is one of the famous platform to sell digital downloads and courses. You can also sell coaching, membership and physical products. You can build your website very easily in few minutes, connect your custom domain and embed your existing website. There are 130,000 creators who are using Payhip.

You can use Payhip for free where they will cut 5% from your orders. You can buy their subscription which starts from $29 and $99. They will charge 2% cut if you buy $29 subscription and 0% cut if you buy $99 subscription.

Each platform has it’s own pros and cons. As a business owner you have try them and then decide which one is best suitable for your business. I do not recommend paying for any platform if you are just starting out, because there are so many free platforms available which I have mentioned already.

Once you start getting orders and in need of any particular feature, only then you should by a subscription of such tools.

If you are using a platform which I did not mentioned and is amazing, please share in the comments so that it will be helpful for others. If you have any query about these platforms, let me know, I will be more than happy to help you out.
