How to plan your Instagram content

An Instagram content plan is very important to grow your business. We all know already that it is very crucial to post consistent in Instagram and it feels very challenging when you are busy all day running your business if you are a one man/woman army or have a very small team.

Having strategy and planning posts in advance can be very helpful. In this article, I will tell you how to plan Instagram content to increase your brand reach.

Set your goals for Instagram

What do you want to convey through your Instagram posts? What does your brand speak about?

Once you set the goal, it will make a lot easier for you to decide what you should post on your Instagram.

We all don’t like any business who speak various things. For example, few posts about dog food and few posts about cushion covers.

Some common Instagram goals and how to achieve them:

  • Increase engagement: Ask questions in post caption and invite them to comment and like your post.
  • Growing audience: Post things where the “hero” is your customer and use proper hashtags to reach more people and gain followers.
  • Build community: Give value to your followers in your each post.
  • Drive website traffic: Create content that makes user to go to your bio and click the link.
  • Generate more sales: Add your shop link in your bio or set up an Instagram shop.

First, spend some time to decide your goals and after that it is time to plan your content with a calendar.

Plan out content calendar

Content calendar is your path to reach your goals. It’s like a roadmap.

Before you plan your amazing calendar, note down things like New product or service launches, online or offline events, seasonal sales and discounts, holidays, etc.

Add these events in your calendar and then plan out content to post and add those in your calendar that matches your goals.

I suggest you to plan for a month and check if it is working for you or not. If you are planning to post two days a week, write what you will post on which day so you can prepare the content in advance.

Decide on theme of your Instagram content

Don’t we all love a beautiful looking feed page with consistent color scheme. So decide what colors speak to your brand. Making a brand profile will help you a lot. There are so many tools out there that can help you plan out your feed depending on the colors you choose.

Deciding theme is important but more important is what message you are conveying through your photos and videos.

Get to know your audience before content planning

You need to know on which day of the week and on what time your followers are most active so that you can schedule your post accordingly.
