Day 1 of 31 days of mini watercolor paintings

As I am sipping my tea, I want to share some exciting thing with you. As you have already read the title of the blog, I am starting a new watercolor painting challenge — 31 days of mini watercolor paintings. Yay! I am so excited.

This watercolor painting project is inspired by the amazing artist Trupti Karjinni. Yesterday I joined her Skillshare class — Daily painting projects for creative quantam leaps and I am super motivated to paint for the next 31 days.

I was feeling very demotivated for last few days and felt like I didn’t want to paint. So the purpose of starting this project is to paint for my self, to nourish my soul. After completing Trupti’s class, I cleaned up my painting desk, gathered my watercolors and made 9 pages of 4 x 3 inches And painted this beautiful sunset watercolor painting.

Day 1 of 31 days of mini watercolor paintings

As Trupti mentioned in her class, by starting daily painting project, it will…

- cultivate a regular painting practice

- develop confidence in the medium

- explore and experiment with natural inspiration

- deep dive into particular subject to gain mastery

- identify patterns and rhythms of your painting practice

- grow and engage your community

I don’t want to share more, please join her amazing class if you want to do something like this and want to join me for the 31 days of mini watercolor paintings.

For the first day of 31 days of mini watercolor paintings, I took inspiration from Pixabay. It is an amazing source of the free beautiful pictures. If you are looking for some inspiration, please visit the website.

After picking up the brush, I started feeling good. Once I finished the painting, I wanted to paint more. I was hungry and I needed to feed my self with more painting process. I always enjoy the process of painting more than the final result. It is very soothing to see the watercolor spreading over the wet paper and mixing with another color.

I was so happy after the first watercolor painting that I went on and on and painted few more paintings. I missed it so bad! If you are following me from the beginning of my journey, you must remember that, I have started a similar project like this in 2019. The subject of that project was flowers. From that project I also started my YouTube channel. I am so glad I did.

For this time, I have chosen landscape to paint for the 31 days of mini watercolor paintings. At the beginning of my watercolor journey, I used to paint flowers only because I was afraid to paint something else. I thought I would mess up if I will paint something else. I was afraid of painting the full page. But one day when I was exploring Skillshare, I saw Zaneena Nabeel’s class — 30 day watercolor challenge and she was teaching watercolor landscapes. I grab the opportunity and painted landscapes.

I was surprised at how easy it was and more than that how enjoyable to paint landscapes. From there, I began painting landscapes. I got more confidence and learned more about watercolors. I started selling paintings again. Skillshare has a big role in my artist journey. I thank all of the artists who are teaching amazing things. If you are interested, I will write a blog on the classes I have joined or saved for later.

That’s all for today. Thank you so much for reading. See you tomorrow with a new painting. If you don’t want to miss out a new blog update or a new painting tutorial, please join my best friend’s list from the subscription box at the bottom.

If you want to learn to paint bookmarks and greeting cards, you can book an art date with me where we will paint something beautiful together in one to one video call.
